——The show in Osaka and Tokyo was a big hit, and it was a show that was evidence of your popularity. What surprised me more than anything, was your beautiful, deep, powerful voice that doesn’t miss a pitch. I think you have a gospel-trained voice, but please tell us the secrets to maintaining your voice and your ongoing efforts to sound as great as you do.(今回の大阪・東京のショーも大盛り上がりで、メリッサの健在ぶりが十分に表れたショーでした。

“THANK YOU” for that compliment on my voice. I have Perfect Pitch. So it is hard for me to hit off notes. I try not to. I don’t do anything special with my voice except believe in it and let it do what it is suppose to do. I don’t over practice and I rest my voice a lot when I am not working or performing. So important. I practice in my head first before I open my mouth to sing. My Vocal instrument is tied in totally my brain. Let me explain…. it is the brain that tells the voice what to sing and how to sing it and What note to sing it in. So you have to be first mentally sharp and make sure these two things…. The voice and the brain are in Totally Sync and in Harmony. I try not to do ANYTHING that will damage my vocal cords. No drinking, no smoking, no Eating the wrong things. No drugs and hardly any medicine unless absolutely necessary. Holistic, clean living. Lots of Fruit and I drink lots of room temperature water. I Love herbal teas and honey. I like Ginger lozenges. They are excellent for the throat, too.

——Your show has an up-tempo, slow to medium-tempo—The audience was excited to feel the vibe you brought and the way you change your flow like those sounds we hear in a church, disco, rock and roll, and so on. You also changed clothes and entertained the crowd with sunglasses on like George Clinton in a costume reminiscent of RUN DMC. Was there any strategy for this set list and approach?(今回のショーは、アップテンポ、スロー、ミディアムテンポ・・・会場が教会に化したり、ディスコに化したり、ロックンロールだったりと、オーディエンスも音を感じる感情が大忙しです。

I wanted to have fun on stage and hope that that energy would be felt within the audiences In Tokyo and Osaka and then they would have Fun, too. I LOVE my Japanese Fans. They are so Loving and they show me so much Love! When we got to the hotel from a 14 hour flight there… they were waiting for me at The Hotel lobby to welcome me and take photo’s and they brought my CD covers for me to sign. I felt so Appreciated. The audience’s at All 4 shows were Happy and Dancing and Singing and having a good time with me. The brought ALL my New CD’s that I had…. SOLD-OUT! Thank you! It was so Special and it touched my heart! They talked with me and told me how much they enjoyed the show and my music. I wanted to give them a Fantastic show filled with ALL types of my music. Old hits, New, Hits, Old Songs, New Songs Cover Songs and some they have not heard me do. MUSIC is a UNIVERSAL language all its own. You don’t need to Understand every word and lyric to Love A beat, A Melody or a feeling that vocals and sound send to your soul. I LOVE IT! Music connects languages, generations and people. I also wanted to make sure I had a Fabulous Band with Good musicians! Hand picked the musicians for this Japan Tour! I am so Proud of them also! They added a lot to me having a Great Show. Thank you to them also.

——The sounds of 70s and 80s have attracted attention again in recent years. Why do you think this is happening?(ここ数年、1970年代や1980年代のサウンドが再び注目を集めています。
